I will be attending Whedoncon May 18th – 20th – I’ll likely have a table (come buy books! You’ll also be able to get copies of Kevin J. Anderson & Steven L. Sears’s new Graphic Novel, Stalag X. It’s beautiful!) I’ve been asked to speak on a panel: Building your social media empire and knowing when to burn it to the ground
This one sounds like a lot of fun, so definitely keep an eye out for the date/time. I’ll post updates as I get them.
I’ll also be Speaking at the Regional Gathering for MENSA May 25-28th in San Diego. I don’t know the exact time-slot yet, but I’m very excited about my talk!
Energy Sustainability and the Zombie apocalypse – lessons from Puerto Rico
What if you woke up tomorrow and the world had changed. Dramatically. In a visceral way. On September 20th 2017 Hurricane Maria hit the Island of Puerto Rico. Six months later 150,000 residents still don’t have access to power or clean water, and for those that do – power outages are frequent, lengthy, and unpredictable. Add to that the spread of rare infectious diseases and you have the perfect microcosm of hell on earth. How is sustainable energy and the opportunity to re-build the energy infrastructure of the island preparing Puerto Rico for the impending zombie apocalypse? What is needed to safeguard the energy infrastructure of those at-risk communities from future natural disasters? How can we prepare and maintain our communities once the worst has happened? A speculative discussion on the sustainable power of microgrids and the de-centralized power grid.
